CURRICULUM
English
Our English teaching curriculum is based on the Jolly phonics program. Jolly phonics is a fun and child-centered approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-
sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers who can see their students’ achievements. The letter sounds are split into seven groups.
There are five key skills for reading and writing complemented by jolly readers and jolly grammar, which provides a through foundation for
teaching literacy over three years in school
- Learning the letter sound, 42 main letter sounds, this includes alphabet sounds as well as digraphs.
- Learning letter formation.
- Blending, how to blend the sounds together to read and write new words.
- Identifying the sounds in words.
- Tricky words: they have irregular spellings and children learn these separately.
Math
They learn the following:
- How to count and recognizing numbers
- Comparing
- Patterns
- Addition
- Subtraction
- Position
- Shapes
- Three dimensional shapes
General knowledge
They learn about science and different information about everything around them.
Arabic
They learn letters and their sounds, how to form them and how to start reading.
Religion
Learning based on the curriculum from the Ministry of Education.
Extracurricular activities
In our kindergarten everything is something new to learn with fun. We have:
- Art lessons doing crafting and colouring.
- music lessons.
- P.E. lessons (physical exercise).
- We have indoor activities like colours day, sports day etc.,
- and outdoor Activities like small trips.
ENVIRONMENT
Classes
We have three levels in our kindergarten:
- Playgroup from two years an half to almost four years old.
- Junior class from four years old to almost five years old.
- Senior class from five years old.
We have 20 kids in each class room with a class
teacher and teacher assistant.
